Hello all,
 
Well well well, here we are at the start of a new uni year of social action and environmental campaigning. As some of you may know the uni have a new membership system for societies and it would be much appreciated if you join us again at Fresher’s Fayre.
 
1) Fresher’s Fayre – So there’s a whole set of new students ready to join the fight for social justice and we desperately need strength in numbers. If you have any ideas as to what we should do on the stall and if you can spare any time, i know many of you will be busy with other things, please email us back outlining ideas and times free.
 
2) Camping trip – This is hopefully going to happen before the weather turns too nasty, we’re looking at booking a few nights camping in the Peak District in order for everyone to get to know eachother and plan a successful year of student activism. There’s abosolutly loads to disscuss but we’ll also have time to explore the area and have fun. Stay tuned for more info when term starts.
 
3) Shared Planet – This is People and Planet’s annual conference featuring workshops, speeches, debates, stalls, films and a massive party! If you are completely new to these issues or if you are an old hand, you definantly learn a host of new things. Topics are not limited to P&P campaigns and include ID cards, new social movements in Latin America, internet campaigning, guerrilla gardening, tax justice, local food vs fairtrade, Israel’s 60th birthday, public finance for fossil fuel projects… and loads more, It’s going to be in Birmingham on the 21st – 23rd November and if we book as a group of ten or more people before the 7th November, tickets cost just £15. Overnight crash space is avaliable.
 
We’re also hopefully going to have a few speakers in next term. Our first full meeting will take place the week after fresher’s week, date and place TBC, please be there and let’s show a real commitment to People and Planet in the academic year 2008/09.

Welcome to the brand new Nottingham Uni People and Planet website. Our aim in creating this is to provide a space where our members can find out and comment about what we are doing away from facebook which is evil. I also hope it will become a space where anyone who wants to can post about events in world politics relating to our 3 major campaign themes.
